Determination of Neutralizing Capacity of Antacids
Description: Milk of Magnesia is added to water along with indicator to show that the solution is basic. The solution will turn yellow following the addition of hydrochloric acid but will turn blue when the mixture is stirred. The amount of acid needed to neutralize the antacid can be quantitated through titration or by measuring the amount added with graduated cylinders.
